Tabata “Bottom to Bottom” Squat

Run 1.6km

Clock starts for run on rising from last squat.

The Tabata Bottom to Bottom Squat is a Tabata Squat but each rep begins at the bottom and ends at the bottom. The turn around at the top is immediate – no pause. The ten-second rest for each interval is also held at the bottom of the squat as opposed to the top. Interestingly, this squat, in contrast to the “normal” Tabata squat, motivates full hip extension. Also, the ten second rests don’t seem as short with this protocol!

  3. I *may* have done this WOD today at work… Counted the squat when I was at the bottom, hung around down there through the 10 seconds rest and did 8 rounds… hated every second of it! Run was done on a treadmill (don’t yell at me!)

    • Mel, the fact that you wrote “hated every second of it” means you probably did it correctly! It was a great change up though. Good one Mick. You probably should have had a video for some of the run starts. Just like new born cows ;) (well, that’s what it felt like, anyhoo)
